Marcus Williams, SkiJapan.com’s General Manager Australia & Hong Kong, is very satisfied with the outcome of the recent Australian Financial Review (AFR) PWC’s Private Clients Aspire Awards. SkiJapan.com was up against some serious opposition for the top gong in the Asian Success Category. Whilst it didn't take out the accolade it sought, to be a finalist was deemed a notable achievement by Williams. “Starting 20 years ago when nobody knew anything about skiing in Japan it took a good while to get the wheels moving, it was hard work trying to convince anyone that Japan and Snow could be mentioned in the same sentence, said Marcus. “In the last 13 years we've really gained momentum with our numbers increasing from 250 in 2004 to in excess of 11,000 skiers and snowboarders this past season. "Our expansion to Asian markets in recent years has been a big part of our success story with a burgeoning and affluent Asian middle class taking up skiing and snowboarding for the first time. Our guests now come from Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Singapore and numerous other Asian countries. And of course Australia. “Our seamless delivery of services and our ability to offer full travel packages including flights, accommodation, ski rental and ski school products along with specialist knowledge continues to be our competitive advantage. “It was an honour being nominated and making the finals in this prestigious award.”
