"Hokkaido Powder Guides is planning on teaching 2 Avalanche Safety Courses in December. The AST course will run over 2 full days in the field and a classroom session on the first night. The course is recommended to anyone who enjoys skiing/riding the powder and intends to do some off-piste, sidecountry or backcountry over the course of the winter. It will give you the knowledge and skills to recognize avalanche terrain, conduct various tests to determine snow stability and should an avalanche occur, perform a self-rescue with other members in the group.
