Niseko’s boutique catering company, Niseko Gourmet, is now recruiting an International chef to join our team during the 2015 2016 winter season. Niseko Gourmet is a privately owned company, providing breakfast and dinners throughout various properties in the Niseko area including Hirafu, Hanazono, Niseko Village and Annupuri. We intentionally operate as a small team so that we can focus on providing a very high quality and individual service and each year rank within the top operators on trip advisor. What are we looking for? As a chef with Niseko Gourmet you will work in various properties throughout the Niseko area alongside either a Japanese or International host, preparing and serving breakfasts and dinners for groups of between 6 to 15 people. We expect all our chefs to have a flair for their chosen career and be passionate about cooking. We also expect you to work as a team with your host to ensure your dinners are being presented at the highest standard, and guests are comfortable and enjoying the personal service Niseko Gourmet is renowned for. Responsibilities include: • Ensuring the kitchen is kept clean at all times, paying special attention to kitchen hygiene. • Meals that are provided by the chef are as follows- • Breakfast- a choice of continental & cooked breakfast to order. • Dinner- a three course 'restaurant' style menu, with the emphasis on fresh and varied ingredients. Canapes and aperitif to begin. • Delivery – Preparation of Niseko Gourmet’s delivery menu including breakfast, sukiyaki, shabu shabu and tailor made delivery menu’s • Special dietary requirements eg. Vegetarians and Children meals may need to be catered for. • Working within a generous but precise budget, submitting weekly accounts to the Resort Manager. • Ensuring a warm welcome to your guests on arrival. • Liaising with the Resort Manager on a regular basis to discuss guest requirements & details. Skills required: • An ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills. • Previous experience of restaurant or private catering work required. • Ability to prepare and serve excellent quality meals within a set budget frame work. • Be able to work as part of a team and have a flexible approach to your work. • Be willing to put the needs of the guests first. • Be reliable, confident and able to work independently. • Work well under pressure. • Be well presented and punctual at all times. Job Details and benefits One position with approximate dates of employment from early December to mid to late March • Salary on application. • Subsidised Staff accommodation in a twin shared room – 30,000JPY per month plus utilities. • Individual Grand Hirafu ski pass reimbursed at completion of contract. • Minimum of one full day off per week. • Staff uniform is provided, to be worn during working hours. (Chefs are asked to supply their own chefs whites, trousers & appropriate foot wear). • Comprehensive and paid training course. Breakfast and dinner service times are mornings from approximately 730am to 10am and evenings from 530pm to between 9pm and 10pm. Preparation for dinner and delivery is outside of these hours.
