SHAKUHACHI WORKSHOP AND RECITAL 17th FEB 2017 (The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step) This was one of this seasons best cultural events. The first of two workshops and recitals was held on the 21st of JAN 2017. A lot of people came down to Sekka Lab in Kutchan to hear this traditional instrument being played by the masters and took part in what was a truly mesmerizing experience. The Shakuhachi is traditionally used in a type of Zen practice called 'Suizen' or blowing Zen, it aligns the spirit and allows health and prosperity to occur. For those of you that couldn’t make it the second SHAKUHACHI WORKSHOP AND RECITAL is being held at SEKKA LAB on the 17th FEB 2017. Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to see and experience the traditional SHAKUHACHI flute. The Seirinsha (Bamboo Flute Association) led by Mr Seizan Nakajima a master of the Shakuhachi and a composer of Shakuhachi music began playing professionally in 1968, his recitals gain much acclaim, with people coming from wide and far to hear him play. ABOUT SEKKA LAB SEKKA lab is the latest project by Shouya Grigg, the founder and creator of SEKKA style. The project consists of a restaurant, cafe and bar in a rustic yet modern Japanese style.
