Does anyone know if you can buy a car in Japan if you're there for 3 months on a tourist visa? Permanent address no probs, parking sorted, is a gaijin card essential to get a car..or is a lease confirming address and passport enough ID?

If you would like a 4wd rental van for the entire season. It will be 315,000yen for three months including unlimited liability insurance and taxes. 400,000 for four.
It could be cheaper to purchase your own vehicle but keep in mind, then you will have to deal with registration, later de-registration, insurance, parking, road tax, re-selling of the vehicle and maintenance.
