The plunging Aussie dollar may have spoilt the Niseko property and real estate party this season, but there are a few companies using innovative approachs to try and keep Niseko property within an affordable range for Aussies who have been smashed by the fall in their dollar. A company called Japan Powder Lodges have just launched Niseko's first fractional/shared ownership of property offering. Basically it allows people to own a share of the freehold title of a renovated lodge called North Field in Izumikjoand get from 11-88 days usage of their own room each season. Prices start from 1.5m yen www.jplodges.com.au Thoughts??

Welcome to The Kutchannel, telstra.

It's a good concept, sounds like a nice alternative to purchasing and managing one's own property. I'm familiar with the lodge, I used to live nearby. Great property. Best of luck, I'll spread the news around (and consider it myself!).

There is an article about this in the latest 'Powderlife' magazine -issue 11.

The concept works in other ski resorts and for luxury cars.

Northfield is a damn nice lodge too.

I can't understand why people invest $600K plus in an apartment they use two weeks a year.
