The NPB is pleased to announce that the Kutchan Town office has confirmed that the NPB has been awarded funding from the National Government as part of the Japanese Government`s `hometown employment revitalisation` project. The project is for Niseko tourism product development and tour guide training. This project will allow the NPB to hire 7 staff as part of a 3 year project. The project is as follows: Nature Guides - 3 staff will be hired to collate footpath, trekking and cycling paths and create maps for these courses. The guides will also be trained by external teachers in conjunction with the Kutchan Natural History Museum. Multi-lingual staff - 4 staff will be hired (languages under consideration are English(x2), Chinese and Korean) to learn about Niseko activities, Niseko companies and Niseko tourism. The staff will also be translators and will be able to translate the maps that the Nature Guides produce. These staff will also work on an information desk and be based in the Welcome Centre as an extension of the NPB office. Staff will be recruited through Hello Work from Friday 24 April, however if you know of anyone suitable or looking for work, please contact the NPB on office@niseko.ne.jp or 0136 21 2551. These positions are to start in May.

Really happy to hear that the feds have stepped in with some cash... I'm sure the cash to fund NPB has dried up in some quarters, hopefully this will bridge the gap until the economy recovers. Is the budget from the feds entirely at NPB's discretion or are there certain conditions that must be met?
