Here I am  we don't have 7 metres, but we do have the Olympics because Whistler is not run by an entrenched group of backwards potato heads.
Disclaimer I been to Niseko twice and I can assure you that it WILL NEVER GET THE OLYMPICS. I can just see Stephen Harper and Ban Ki-moon lining up at Seicomart after the bunny hill event.
The 2010 Olympics are in vancouver/whistler - if it was just whistler there be a bit of a parking issue when the hockey teams played at alpine meadows and getting into Citta`s would be a bitch.
Sapporo handled an Olympics just fine in 1972- its not much of a stretch to image them throwing a few events at Niseko ( much like Whistler) to showcase the area and help kick start some much needed infrastructure ( improvements to the Sea to Sky vs Shinkansen).
It could even by touted at the eco games- recycling and refurbishing all the old venues.
Anyways - hope it all goes well, everyone has a grand old time and Canada kicks ass , especially in hockey- and snowboarding-
and curling too.
Just got an email from a friend based in Aspen. He says:
"I'm in Florida now, where it's only barely warmer than Aspen, and colder than Vancouver. Same amount of snow in all three places."

I feel for the smaller businesses - and for the locals who'll be paying for this Olympics for a generation. For the MrWhistlers of the world I have no such concerns... (Karma's a bitch... but only for bastards!)
Montreal just finished paying off their 1976 Olympic debt in 2008, and Vancouver's tab is pushing $7 billion (source).
Then there's there's a month's worth of international broadcasts showing a resort with no snow. That can't be good for marketing.
And MrWhistler, you, young lad, are a right tosser. You must be American :cheer:
whistler ok, the mtns close to vancouver where they are having freestyle / halfpipe are lacking a bit but don't need much for those events, you want snow?come on over to the island, 460cm base and no mr whistler here, golf in the aft..

chico was a specialist in the luge (where he did set a hokkaido record), as well as the skeleton, but that was before his recent accidents. i hope he doesn't take up men's doubles luge now, something just doesn't seem right there, even if you are brothers...
any canuck may be hard to live with, esp after this! croooosby from iggy!
Yeah, happy for you. As the only US citizen present at the coronation, I was thinking if we won I might have ended up in a snow bank somewhere. Congrats ;) genuinely awesome game. Glad I got to see it live. Thanks to the guys at Mt Merry for welcoming the enemy into their living quarters at 5 in the morning.
