Sounds like the SDF is the place to send contributions of necessary items. Write 地震支援物資在中 on the package. * clothing * warm blankets & sleeping bags * daily necessities (soap, tooth brushes, tissue paper, etc) * food (instant, canned, nutritious foods where possible) * baby supplies (especially diapers) * hand warmers (懐炉 kairo) like the ones made by zippo * batteries 自衛隊では支援物資を受け付けています。 Please send your packages to one of the following addresses: ●宮城県県庁 ← 仙台あてはこちらへ (Sendai) 仙台市青葉区本町3-8-1 [TEL]022-211-2111 ●岩手県県庁 (Iwate) 盛岡市内丸10-1 [TEL]019-651-3111 ●青森県県庁 (Aomori) 青森市長島1-1-1 [TEL]017-722-1111 ●福島県県庁 (Fukushima) 福島市杉妻町2-16 [TEL]024-521-1111 【その他全体の取組について】 防衛省 (代表) 03-5366-3111 I am currently unclear on whether the Kutchan base on route 5 is accepting these items, it may be best to just send them via post. They WILL get there.

Hey everybody, have gotten word that the Post Office is NOT accepting packages for delivery to effected areas right now, including the addresses I included above. I think they don't have the manpower to sort through all of the donations, etc. Probably best to donate cash where possible, maybe somebody could recommend the best place for the money to go.

I did get an exciting e-mail from Jay though yesterday, definitely a good bet to actually get STUFF delivered.

Hi everyone.

We are organizing a small relief effort for those affected by the Tsunami and quake. We're driving a truck loaded with basic and essential supplies to deliver to people who are without water, food and warmth.

We are leaving Friday, ferrying to Akita and driving as far as possible into the affected area.

We'll be loading a 4WD with basic supplies and distributing them in the most affected areas.
* Food
* Water
* Blankets
* Torches
* Batteries
* Gas cookers

Due to Fridays timeline we are pre-buying supplies and are asking for cash donations to help with these essential goods..
We are asking for Y50,000 from larger businesses and smaller donations from individuals - every little bit will count.

We are also looking for blankets donated by anyone who can spare them.

All donations and and deliveries can be made to the NISADE office. We need to collect and purchase everything by 3pm Wednesday. Any extra donations will go to Red Cross Japan.

Thank you for any help. Please contact Jay on 090-9380-5729 if you can donate blankets or suitable supplies.

Thank you.
