Continued from here. We seriously only had 4 entries? Powzel - November 3rd Supreme (me) - October 31st Gtrain - November 2nd GoNative (winner of round one) - November 11th Looks like if it snows in October I win, of course, predictions are still welcome but must be made more than one week before actual snowfall! Gtrain and I had negotiated the following criteria:
"Snow in the Village" = Snow that accumulates (even very lightly) on the grassy area on Abucha corner. It can melt same day, but not instantly. That provides our definition of both "village" and "snow".
I'll put a nomihodai at Nozomi II on it. Who's in?
Jaws42 (2008-10-10 13:54:02)
October 28th village around 3.45pm

I'm still putting a carton towards the cause!....The only clause is that everyone else (including me) can drink it. If there are no further takers, it could end up an interesting night.
That Chick From Logistics (2008-10-22 12:48:46)
This Sunday... maybe?
Gtrain (2008-10-22 17:33:23)
Is that your final predicition in OFace with Sunday the 26th. Shall we lock it in?
Go Native (2008-10-22 22:47:10)
I'd be surprised if we got any snow to village level on Sunday. In the morning I'd say snow could fall down to around 800m, with possibly a bit settling above the top of the quad...we'll just have to see how much precip is around when the colder air moves through. It certainly can snow in October though down to low levels. Kutchan has received up to 37cm in Oct back in '64. The most recent Oct snowfall to Kutchan was in '04 with 13cm falling. In the last 55 years measurable Oct snow to Kutchan has only occurred 17 times.

I think we might be all way off. I think you are probably the only one with a chance Go Native, but I am not giving up yet! Where do you get all your stats from? or are you are an 84 year old Japanese local who is just remembering the old days?

oFace, your prediction is within one week, but we'll let it slide.

Go Native: dear god man! There's really no talking you into doing http://NisekoSnowForecast.com for me? I haven't the time, or your knowledge! "On this day in 1840 the barometer reading was..."

Mate lets discuss over a beer tomorrow night.
Go Native (2008-10-29 22:12:36)
Looks like Jaws42 got about the closest with snow starting in the village last night and continuing on and off through much of today. There was definitely snow on the Abucha corner first thing this morning.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh. I lost. Congratulations to Go Native and Jaws42. We'll organize a night involving copious amounts of alcohol for you both sometime in January, that work?
Gtrain (2008-10-30 20:04:10)
Congrats Jaws 42, When we have the beers we may have to give you an inaugural trophy and make you up an embarrassing hat to wear for the night. Something made of alfoil and involving a barometer. GoNative, since you won the first round you won't escape either.
